Illustration Friday- CAT

Oh hello, I'm a creepy cat by a gnarled tree. Can you tell that the artist doesn't actually OWN a cat, and looked at approximately NO cat pictures while drawing said feline??!! Maybe you want to see how I started out?

I scanned it just in case I blew the picture while Kai-ifying it (adding lots of scratches and pen and ink hatches).

Aaaawww, he looks so sad and lonely.
(Though, I love the illustration.)
beautiful illutration! Very expressive!
Excellent job especially not refreshing 'cat' images before-hand :)
You clearly have the inner understanding of catness... through lots of observation at some time in some place. I'm impressed. (And I like Neverwhere, too... And Nansi Boys.)
Gorrrrrgeous };-}
You certainly have the physics of a cat down for someone who worked entirely from memory. I Love the detail...the way the cat almost blends in with the tree!!!!
I really like this illustration. This cat is quite different than any post I've seen this week. I love how he blends with the tree, and the pen work you added gives the whole illustration a lot of character. and the fact that you worked from memory is quite amazing!
Great job. You captured the 'zen' of catness--not an easy task for someone who doesn't own one.
Thanks everybody!!!! Indeed i have owned many a cat! Alas, around the age 13 I became allergic, which was very sad, since I was OBSESSED with the beasts!Oh well. I watch from afar.
I'll still always be a cat person, and never a dog person.
These are lovely. Such a shame you don't like dogs :< . Anyhow, hope to see more great work from your blog.
Love your cat. Great scratching and inking job on your illo, it was nice to see all the steps, and thanks for visiting. There is nothing said you can’t have imaginary cat for a pet, is there? Lily.
Your cat is so wonderfully talkative! I think your illustrations are SQUISITO (italian for exquisite).
love,
(dogs talk too, you know)
Ok Dog Lovers, I ain't sayin' I don't like dogs...I'm just saying I am not a "Dog-person." In the great endless battle between the dogs and the cats, the cats get my allegiance. Not that the cats care one fig about me. That's how cats are.
Some dogs I am very happy to personally know. For instance, Evelyn's dog, Fred (see comment above) is a fantastic dog. Even the dog Eliza Day (owned by my friends Renee and jj), whose teeth marks ARE STILL ON MY LEG, is a great pup.
The End.
The face is very nice and seems like they have some story to tell. I would welcome you to my house little cat even if black! Very good and excelente trabajo!
This is gorgeous work! I love the face and the general feel of the piece.
Very, very nice! I am a cat lover! Like the pictures and the blog!
